Workshop Description:
• Promoting student success is everyone’s business. Determining appropriate evaluations, implementing effective interventions and measuring student progress requires knowledge and understanding of the many regulations/rules that surround our practice. Another integral part of student success is the ability to work and collaborate as a team to provide meaningful and effective services throughout the school day. Collaborative teamwork creates a wrap-around system for the student and alleviates some of the challenges of hectic schedules, paperwork, demands and high caseloads.
• During this workshop, attendees will reflect upon their unique discipline contributions and their roles as related service providers, to identify ways to best utilize their skills and expertise as part of a building and/or district level teams.
• Content for this training will include a review of:
o IDEA history and Federal Regulations (intent, purpose, and definitions)
o Ohio Operating standards for Special Education (2014)
o State level professional practice act requirements by the OTPTAT Licensure Board
o National professional standards and guidelines
• Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to better:
o Understand key professional underpinnings required by practice guidelines and Ohio licensure
o Understand the intent, purpose and definitions specific to special education programs and related services, found in IDEA 2004 Federal Regulations and Ohio Operating Standards, 3301-51
o Articulate their role as related service providers as part of the IEP team process, including evaluation, goal writing, service delivery design and progress monitoring.:
