New Director of Office for Exceptional Children to Start August 1, 2017

Hello everyone,
I am pleased to share with you that Kimberly Monachino, Ed.D., will be the new director of the Office for Exceptional Children.

Dr. Monachino will begin on Aug. 1 and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience supporting the education of diverse learners to the Department.  Some of you may know Dr. Monachino as she has most recently served as the executive director of student services at Lorain City Schools and brings over 29 years of professional experience in a variety of roles in northeastern Ohio. She also taught courses related to special education for nine years at John Carroll University and Concordia University.

Dr. Monachino received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Youngstown State University and a Master of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Kent State University. She also received a Specialist in Education degree in Administration from Kent State University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Akron.

Dr. Monachino brings years of expertise in support of all learners working across a wide variety of settings. We are excited to welcome her to the Office for Exceptional Children, where she will continue supporting Ohio’s schools as they ensure diverse learners receive the support and services needed to succeed!  Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the work during this time of transition.
