School buildings
to remain closed for remainder of school year, new information available
on attendance, child safety and family engagement
Governor DeWine today announced Ohio’s
coronavirus-related school-building closure order will extend through the
end of the school year. This order includes all public,
community and private K-12 schools in the state. As more information
becomes available, the Ohio Department of Education remains committed to
updating online resources regularly and communicating new details via
email updates.

Microsoft Teams: Official State of Ohio conferencing and
collaboration platform
Did you know the State of Ohio has adopted Microsoft
Teams as the conferencing and collaboration platform for Ohio
government agencies? This means that to participate in most Ohio
Department of Education meetings, districts need to lift any blocks
on Microsoft Teams that may be in place.

Data appeal for 2020 assessment data open through May 29
Starting Monday, April 27
through Friday, May 29, superintendents may
appeal 2020 assessment data, including assessment data for
kindergarteners, grades 3-8 and end-of-course data. These data
may affect measures on the 2020 Ohio School Report Cards as well as
state funding received by the district.

Register now for virtual Ohio Teacher Leadership Summit,
June 10
The 2020 Ohio Teacher
Leadership Summit will be conducted virtually, bringing
together schools, districts and organizations doing innovative work
to develop teacher leaders. Attendees will share successes, lessons
they’ve learned and strategies for overcoming challenges in teacher
leadership implementation.

Register now: 2020 Career Connections Conference planned
for July 27
Career Connections are designed
to support the whole child through intentional career advising
practices. This year’s conference is
planned for July 27 at the Hilton Columbus – Easton.
Interested participants are encouraged to register now and will be
notified if event details need to be changed in light of any
coronavirus-related impact.
