Interview-OOD Dir Kevin Miller: Employment for People with Disabilities in the Time of Covid
An Interview with OOD Director Kevin Miller: Delivering Employment Services to People with Disabilities in the Time of Covid, Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

Today we are beginning the first in a 3-part interview with Kevin Miller, Director of Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (ood.ohio.gov). OOD is Ohio's state-federal vocational rehabilitation program for Ohioans with disabilities. These interviews are being done in celebration of October being National Disability Employment Month, as well as 2020 being the 30th anniversary of the passage of the ADA, the 50th anniversary of OOD, and the 100th anniversary of vocational rehabilitation in America.

Your job is to coordinate rehabilitation and vocational services to Ohioans with disabilities and then a worldwide pandemic hits. Everything changes... the state shuts down, businesses are closed... Most people are staying at home in a time of increased anxiety.

How do you continue to provide services? How do you continue to advocate and strive for the employment of people with disabilities in this situation?

Kevin Miller sat down with us to discuss how the professionals at OOD have adapted, adjusted and continued to move forward, continuing to place Ohioans with disabilities in meaningful jobs.
