This week the President's Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End a National Tragedy of Suicide (PREVENTS) was released. Developed by an interagency Task Force, the Roadmap contains research, strategies, and recommendations to inform both the public and private sectors in their efforts to address mental health and suicide, build on existing best practices, and connect Veterans to the mental health resources they need in communities across America.

Compliance Assistance Webinars

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) is hosting webinars this summer to discuss how it is reducing regulatory burdens and making it easier for workers and employers to understand and comply with the law. The webinars will also provide an opportunity for workers, employers, and state and local governments to ask questions and discuss how DOL can expand and improve access to its compliance assistance materials. The webinars will be hosted by DOL's Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy and Office of Compliance Initiatives. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required.

The Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT) has posted a new episode of its Future of Work podcast series on "Accessibility, Training and Job Creation." In the episode, Shane Kanady, Vice President of Workforce Development at SourceAmerica, discusses challenges people with disabilities face when looking for work, with a special focus on technology concerns.

Disability Facts for Features

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau published a Facts for Features release that provides a demographic snapshot of the U.S. population with a disability. The statistics come from various Census Bureau censuses and surveys, covering different periods of time. The release also includes links to Census Bureau blogs and graphics on disability topics.
