Mentoring 4 Reading Achievement

Teacher Reading to Child
1:1 Reading Mentoring
OCECD's 1:1 Reading Mentoring program is designed to improve reading levels for children who read below grade level.

Schools: The Mentoring 4 Reading Achievement (M4RA) program can be implemented by trained staff/volunteers in schools- before, during, or after school.

Families:  The All About Reading Mentoring program (AARM) These same mentoring resources can be used by families who have been trained to reading mentor their own children.

Research: demonstrates that children make the greatest reading gains when they are mentored 3-4 times per week for 30-minute sessions. Students also exhibit increased self-confidence which paves the way for reading success. The program content comes from www.readinga-z.com

Training:  School staff, volunteers, or family members can participate in our online four-module (about 15 minutes each) reading mentor training. In-person/virtual trainings can also be requested. There is no cost for this training. Participants who register for this training will receive the 1:1 reading mentor training folder to use during the training.  Family members who complete the four-module training can receive free access to the reading mentoring resources.
