Soon there will be various Language and Literacy Resources for families and other integral stakeholders on this page.  It will include videos, success stories and activities for families to utilize.  All videos will be available in accessible formats including captioning, audio and in several languages. This is made available by a contract to OCECD through the Department of Education, Office for Exceptional Children's State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG).   However, these resources do not infer Ohio Dept of Education, Office for Exceptional Children's policies and procedures.  Please check back often for additional resources!  If you know of a Literacy resource that would be good to add, please contact Lee Ann Derugen, Webmaster at
State Support Team Region 9 partnered with Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilites (OCECD) to support Parent Mentors across the state in encouraging and equipping parents in their role of developing their child's language/literacy skills.  Region 9 produced three videos entitled The Power of Language, Phonological Awareness and Responsive Interactions which define key terms, share research around brain development and discuss the building blocks of language and the role of sound in relationship to Early Literacy.  These are listed below captioned in English.  Captioned in Spanish and other languages are coming soon!
