Preschool 3-5 Years

Preschool

OCECD's Preschool Program provides information to the families of preschool children with disabilities across the State of Ohio.  Support and assistance is also available to parent mentors, parent organizations, and individual districts.  Preschool Special Education programs are designed to meet the needs of preschool children identified with a disability.  There are guidelines to be followed through the child find process, evaluation, and the providing of appropriate related services to children with disabilities.  These guidelines are requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Through an awareness and understanding of their rights, along with the guiding principle of IDEA, parents become more successful advocates for their children.

The following document explains the role of Parent Mentors and OCECD representatives.
